Out of Grad School and Into Student Debt

Jokes aside, I would like to here say that I am incredibly blessed to be graduating with much less debt than one would expect for being in school for most of my adult life. Thank you those who have supported and continue to support my educational and writing endeavors financially.

Henri Nouwen once said that “generosity begets generosity.” Though I am a student, though I studied theology and writing and probably won’t make much money, the beneficence of others has buoyed me this far and inspires me to practice a similar generosity to others. I firmly believe the Christian is called to be recklessly wise in every realm of our being; and certainly in a financial sense. We may not all have large bank accounts, but Christians are all capable of loving vulnerably with every thing we do have.

And I am thankful that such love has enabled me to approach the next phase of my life confident that God’s grace can save us from the grimmest of situations. Even student debt.

It’s a rich life, my friends. Tip well, indulge in cheap wine, laugh in the face of despair with the joy of an empty grave and- for goodness sakes- remember that it’s Friday.
